  • Project Details
    Principal duties include teaching MUIN 497 DIY Touring.  This is a 2-unit, 1-semester course that meets for two hours per week in the fall semesters.  The course covers principles and techniques of introductory / DIY concert touring.  The course is specifically designed for the DIY artist’s first tour and includes, preparing and planning for a tour, booking basics at the club/café level, fan building, working with house sound engineers, transportation on a budget, merchandise development, basic budgeting, show preparation, band agreements and more.QualificationsThe ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated professional success in recently touring at the club-level and possessing relationships with club, café and small theater owners. Additionally, the successful candidate will have hands-on basic technical stagehand experience in rigging, lighting, backline and basic live-audio mixing at the club level. Successful applicants will be expected to have a demonstrated record of experience and accomplishment working in a highly diverse environment and of promoting equity and inclusion in the work that they do and in their approach to the profession.Minimum Education:  a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or degree requirements may be substituted with at least five-years recent club touring experience at a supervisory levelPreferred Education:  a bachelor’s degreePreferred Experience:  at least three-years recent club touring experience at a supervisory level. Teaching experience at a college or university, or in an online program specializing in touring at the club-level is a plus.Course compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Review of applications will commence in June 2021 and the position will remain open until filled.
