    Job Title:        HGOco Community Initiatives CoordinatorDepartment:   HGOcoReports to:     HGOco Sr. Producing ManagerClassification:  Full time, Non-ExemptDate:              July 2021                      SUMMARYThe Community Initiatives Coordinator supports HGOco’s efforts in the facilitation of community programming under the Song of Houston and Seeking the Human Spirit initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the dynamic HGOco team that provides community and learning programming throughout the greater Houston area.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinates logistics, expenses, scheduling and marketing of HGOco Community Programs.Compile detailed timelines and schedules for events.Fulfill logistics for program execution.Assist in program budget planning.Execute marketing and communications plans for events and contribute content.Maintains established community partnerships through frequent communication and event invitations.Represents HGOco prior to mainstage performances, at local and regional festivals and at public events to promote programming.Supports learning programs on an as needed basis, and coordinate event and teaching artist schedules with Programs Coordinator.Works closely with Programs Coordinator on maintaining HGOco Social Media content and eblast schedulesSupports auditions, casting and onboarding processes of performers (for productions and special performances).Coordinates data collection and survey maintenance of programs and partners.Special projects may be assigned that align with a candidate’s particular skill set and interests.Note: This job description represents the essential functions of the position, but is not all-inclusive. Additional duties related to the mission and goals of the department and organization may be assigned as needed.QUALIFICATIONS:A bachelor degree or at least four years of professional experience is required in the performing arts or arts administration fields. The candidate must be highly motivated and able to work both independently and as a cooperative member of the HGOco team. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines while creating high-quality, detailed work is required. Experience with event coordination and planning is highly preferred. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft Suite. The candidate is required to work some nights and weekends, have their own reliable means of transportation and be physically able to lift and carry weight up to 25 lbs.SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICSThe position requires the candidate to possess excellent time management skills and be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate must be extremely comfortable communicating with others and pro-actively reaching out to community organizations to promote programming. The candidate will be required to independently move materials and set up HGOco’s promotional table at off-site events. Candidates who are fluent in one or more of Houston’s most spoken languages will be given priority consideration.Houston Grand Opera is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
