Director Hang Luong Nguyen is casting for SUPERMARKET AFFAIRS, a bittersweet dramedy short about a Vietnamese immigrant mother struggles to reconnect with her adult daughter after the death of the family patriarch.This is a UT Austin MFA Pre-thesis short film to be shot in Austin, TX in early December 2021. HOA (50 - 65, female, Vietnamese): A middle-aged Vietnamese woman who recently moved to America to live with her only daughter. Spirited and a go-getter back home, she has a hard time having to depend on her daughter with the smallest things. FLUENCY IN VIETNAMESE IS A MUST.HA (25 - 35, female, Vietnamese): Ha went to college in the US and stayed on afterwards. Being away from home for a long time, she has put down roots here and feels a disconnection with her own mother and culture, especially after the death of her father.
