    Our company is seeking a Video Editor and Producer to work with the Multimedia team in our New York office.This role will be responsible for producing, filming, and occasionally producing a wide variety of videos of varying lengths and formats: from very short animated GIFs, 15 second ads and social videos, to medium and longer length animations and documentaries that support NRDC’s communication efforts. The role will also help conceptualize story ideas to meet specific campaign goals as well as partner with internal and external stakeholders to help prevent and troubleshoot complex technical and logistical problems to streamline our video production workflow. This position reports to the Director of Video, Multimedia.We are looking for a multidisciplinary video artist familiar with multiple phases of video production, from pre to post. Ideally, the artist will have worked in a variety of industries from advertising, media, to narrative or documentary filmmaking. They will have exceptional editorial judgment, be adept at video editing, sound editing/design, and color grading, be able to execute mid-level motion graphics design, be comfortable with shooting and lighting, and be familiar with photography and design workflow. Knowledge of production planning and budgeting is a strong plus.Knowledge of NRDC’s core missions is required and the successful candidate must have a broad knowledge and curiosity about environmental issues. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented creative and a collaborative team-player. An innovative spirit, passion for digital media, and the ability to solve problems independently in a fast-paced environment is a must. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.An online portfolio showing examples of previously edited pieces and a successful execution of real-life practical assignments are required for consideration.ResponsibilitiesEdit, color-grade, perform sound design/edit and motion graphics design on live action videos and simple animations Source b-roll, music, and sound effects Communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding production and video edits Lead the organization, backup, and management of video files on the Multimedia server and the Digital Asset Management system, and serve as the key Video team liaison to Multimedia Archivist Operate video cameras and sound equipment Help produce videos to meet specific campaign needs Help plan project timeline, narrative structure, and story goals Help interview onscreen talent Light and film onscreen talent and film sets Help maintain equipment as well as technical infrastructure Be a resource of information regarding video and motion graphics workflow for other members of the Multimedia team Be abreast of new technology and filmmaking techniques to maintain creative excellence Qualifications5-7 years’ experience in a competitive, deadline-driven, and professional creative environment. Bachelor’s degree in film, video production, communications or related field A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport Demonstrable video production, shooting, editing, color grading, motion graphics, and sound editing/design skills with a strong portfolio Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Lumetri Color, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Animate Familiarity with virtual video production a plus Solid written and verbal communication skills Robust attention to detail Excellent time management Experience collaborating in a large multi-disciplinary creative team Strong foundation in filmmaking, lighting, photography, design, and storytelling theory and practice Motivated, proactive, takes initiative, dedicated, hardworking, self-starter with a can-do attitude Commitment to NRDC’s values and mission. Physical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment at times NRDC is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, both in our work and in our workplace.
