OverviewOur mission is to reach new audiences, on new platforms with new digital content. You will work on creating content across ITV News’ digital platforms – concentrating primarily on video. Driving growth on ITV News' social media platforms and own website by creating remarkable news video is essential. This role will work across ITV News digital platforms – concentrating primarily on video and producing high-quality visual content with the ITV News website and other social platforms in mind. This content could come from original sources (including in-house and self shot video), live digital broadcasting, agency or be made up of user-generated content. You will secure maximum impact for ITV News’ television material online – selling it as effectively as possible – and to re-edit television material for digital platforms in mind. Whilst the main focus of this role will be video creation, the successful candidate will have to occasionally write news stories, publish blogs and take on some web duties as well, including running the news desk. This role contains shift work, including occasional weekends.Responsibilities• Produce content for all ITV News digital platforms – with a particular emphasis on original video production.• Script and edit television and agency material with social platforms in mind – securing millions of views for our content in the digital world.• Show distinctive judgement about digital storytelling – with confidence about what elements will resonate with an online audience and what will perform in the medium• Show proficiency in both AVID Newscutter, Adobe Premiere, plus other media technology to produce high quality videos from across ITV News and regional news.• Show proficiency in both shooting and editing video content• Generate ideas for stories and multimedia coverage• Write punchy and original headlines for social media and the website• Write and edit news stories and blogs for the website using the Content Management System• Maintain the highest standards of spelling, punctuation and grammar• Produce some original stories, interviews and coverage across a wide range of social media platforms and the website• Originate and book guests, live and pre-recorded• Produce innovative and creative videos from programmes including On Assignment and Tonight• Make engaging thumbnails and share cards for videos and written stories• Provide imaginative treatments for complex stories and present complex ideas simply and in a compelling manner• Ensure stories are accurate and comply with the law and relevant regulations• Occasionally write stories for the news website• Work in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety in the office and in the field• Occasionally work on the output, news-desk or other teams if required following training• Occasionally work in the field, at home and abroad, during breaking news• Occasional work with independent reporters or companies• Deal professionally with members of the public and guests• Weekend work and unsocial hours included
