    The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre is an improv theatre and training center, founded by the Upright Citizens Brigade troupe members, including Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts and Matt WalshUCBT is currently seeking a House Manager for our East Village location.Key responsibilities for the position will include:Ensuring the safety of the patrons, performers and interns at the theatre. This includes, but is not limited to, knowledge and practice of provisions provided by the FDNY with relation to running a Place of Assembly.Opening and closing the theatreOverseeing all interns and staff on duty. Escalating issues to proper department head when necessary.Ensuring that performances start on time. Communicating with performers and technicians.Enforcing all UCB policies, including ticket and show policies.Handling issues that arise with customers. Enforcing all theatre rules, policy and procedure. Monitoring for potential issues with patrons. Ensuring Company alcohol sales policy compliance on site. Must be visible and be mindful of any suspicious activity.Handling patron complaints about theatre policy, capacity issues, or noise issues inside and outside of the theatre. Escalates complaints or suggestions as neededEntering last minute comps for performers and taping seats if necessaryInsuring that all shows start on time and all performers are ready to go before showtimeCounting money and disperses banks to employees (box office, bartenders) and completes nightly closeoutResponsible for environmental control. Inside; heating, cooling and lighting as appropriate for the conditions. Outside; lines are orderly, crowds dispersed and quiet after 11 pm, discourage littering and loitering and sidewalks left cleanAccurately and regularly logging and properly documenting any incident reports and insurance reports as required by Company policySKILLS/REQUIREMENTSStrong writing and verbal communications skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressureExcellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail while handling large crowdsOrganization, neatness and confidence in running a venue.Professional and enthusiastic demeanor, and an understanding of the value of cooperation.Fireguard Certifications are required for employment as a House ManagerMust be able to lift gate to open and close theatre. Approx. 30lbs.Must be able to move/ascend/descend a ladderESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ( Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions)· Oversees staff and performers during shows.· Communicates with customers.· Ensures that shows run safely and on time.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWorks days, nights, and/or weekends as required.Works in a noisy, fast paced environment with distracting conditions.The person in this position constantly communicates with patrons and staff. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situationsMoves about the venue and remains stationary for long periods of timeMust be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.Occasionally moves/ascends/descends a ladder.
