    Position Summary:

    The Opera Center Director oversees all operations of the Opera Center including management of a full-time and part-time staff of 10, facility maintenance and enhancement needs, establishing and maintaining the facility’s budgets, maximizing earned income through bookings and related services, promoting the facility to maximize utilization and overall sales goals, and serving as a liaison to the performing arts community. The Opera Center Director is expected to ensure a high standard of service to OPERA America’s membership, artists and other user constituents, and monitor tenant adherence to policies.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Ensure that the Opera Center is a welcoming, motivating, stimulating facility that allows artists and artistic staff to produce excellent work in a supportive and caring environment.
    Oversee the booking process for all facility rentals, including the scheduling and contracting of Opera Center equipment and staffing.
    Manage the Opera Center staff including two full-time managers, two part-time coordinators, and a team of part-time Customer Service Associates.
    Execute the strategic vision and positioning of the Opera Center among OPERA America’s membership, donors and the local and national performing arts communies.
    Coordinate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to promote the Opera Center and select activities within the Opera Center.
    Work with the Director of Finance and Operations to develop and maintain the Opera Center’s budget.
    Prepare weekly income and forecasting reports for the Director of Finance and Operations.
    Prepare detailed reports for the semi-annual Board of Overseers meetings and assist the Director of Finance and Operations with preparing reports for Board of Directors meetings.
    Work closely with the senior staff to coordinate OPERA America programs that take place in the Opera Center.
    Advise and assist the Chief Information Officer with data management that will generate effective customer service records and reports.
    Work closely with the Facilities and Technical Manager to ensure all aspects of the Opera Center are well-maintained.


    Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate must possess knowledge of performing arts facility needs and experience in studio/theatre rentals. Preference will be given to candidates with strong financial management and revenue reporting experience. Excellent interpersonal skills to work with and motivate all levels of staff, volunteers, artists and outside constituents are essential. Knowledge of opera/vocal arts is a major plus.



    Applicants with experience managing performing arts or similar facilities dedicated to a high level of hospitality and customer service will be strongly considered.



    Other Requirements:

    The position requires lifting and carrying weight in excess of 20 lbs unassisted. Position also requires working nights and weekends as scheduled.



    Salary and Compensation:

    With a starting salary starting of $65,000, OPERA America provides comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision), tax-sheltered annuity with employer match, paid vacation, and life insurance to all full-time employees.
