About me
As a storyteller, in many ways I've never grown up; I'm still a child playing with superheroes and monsters, just in the forms of characters rather than toys. I'm looking to make a name for myself in the movie business, big dreams of writing, directing and acting, am moving to LA come fall 2022 to pursue those dreams whether I have work lined up or not.Acting experience:
I love acting on stage. I participated in all of my high schools fall plays (we had musicals in the spring but I couldn't participate because of sports conflicts) and was a member of the Domino Board (the student leaders of the theater program) my senior year. I finally did get to participate in the spring musical, Grease, as a senior and was nominated at the Philadelphia High School Theater Independence Awards for Best Featured Actor for my portrayal of Eugene.
Writing/Directing Experience:
My proudest accomplishment as a writer is my feature script Terrytop Hill the first draft of which placed in the top 10% of submissions to the 2021 Academy Nicholls Fellowship competition.
I put together a 10 minute proof of concept film as my senior project in college. This is the first of my films I have submitted to any competitions and I anxiously await the results I should receive at the end of the summer.
Dancing experience:
Besides the dance numbers in my high school plays, I'm not really a trained dancer but I am certainly an enthusiastic dancer! By which I mean I'm the guy who'll say screw it at a party when people are kinda standing around awkwardly cuz no one wants to be the first one on the dance floor. I don't know if I'm any good and there's definitely no preplanning in my movements, but it seems to get the job done.
Singing experience:
I participated in as many singing opportunities as I had time for in Middle and High School. Since starting college, I have continued this passion mostly in the shower and on the way to classes. I'm a Tenor.
I'm also a rapper. I'm like actually good too I swear to God.
Interesting past experiences:
Wanna hear about the time I biked over 30 miles for a film class?
I had to put together 2-4 minute movie for my final project, right? Now I wanted to do something ambitious: I had this vision in a dream of a hand reaching up through the teeny tiny recycling bin in my room and then a full grown person popping out of it like a Looney Tune. So I had the idea to make a horror spoof called Recycle or Else about a demon who punishes someone for not recycling.
I had a whole plan of how I would make this scene possible:
1. Cut a hole in the side of a recycle bin so the actor can reach his hand up through it.
2. Cut a hole in a 2nd bin, this one on the bottom, so the actor playing the killer (Collin, great guy to work with) can wear it like a skirt and just kneel.
3. Cut back and forth between the victim's face and the killer but insert prerecorded sounds to make it appear that he's emerging through the same bin.
There's just one problem. I can't use these bins in my room (campus property), the Home Depot is like 20 miles away, I don't have a car, my friends who offer me a ride keep cancelling on me, so by now the rough cut is due in 3 days! So after yet ANOTHER friend cancels on me I say "Screw it!" and head off ZOOM off on my bike and get to the Home Depot within 2 HOURS before it closes! Here's the thing, I left in such a frenzy that it didn't occur to me that a) I have no way of transporting these bins back b) my phone's gonna run out of power and I don't know the way back.
So what did I do? Well first, I bought a phone charger while I was there and then I, at 8pm on an Autumn night in freaking Minnesota, started my 20 mile journey back with the bins between my legs as I pedaled so I looked like I was riding a tricycle! Again, because my phone was outta power, I quickly got lost and just to add insult to injury everywhere was closing by now (it was 9 o'clock) so I was looking desperately for a place that might have an outlet. Finally I stop at a Subway, which was closed but there was this super cool dude there named Zack who was still mopping and after hearing my sob story he was like "Damn dude! Look I'll let you stay here and charge your phone as long as I can but once my shift is over I'm gonna have to kick you out."
He even offered me some free chips and water. Thanks man! Anyway, so by 9:30 I got my phone up to like 25% which is better but still not great. Also, by this point not only was it freaking cold, but there was so much uphill and the wind was blowing so hard in my face, which was not only discouraging but it made the already awkward positioning of the bins even harder to maintain.
Somehow I was able to keep my phone running for another hour and a half (I did all the cheats: low power mode, turning it off when I don't need it, etc) and when it turned off it's okay because the rest of the way back was a straight shot. Unfortunately that straight shot was still 10 miles long! At this point my legs were just noodles and after my attempts to hitchhike miserably failed, every time I saw headlights I was so desperate for a ride that I tipped the bike, laid myself on the road and pretended my leg was broken hoping, praying that someone would take pity on me or at least be curious enough to stop. That didn't work either. So by now, with this freezing wind pushing against me like a heavyweight champion, I accepted the fact that no one was coming to my rescue and those noodles went a peddlin' again. That is until finally, without my even waving or anything, this one car (GOING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION) stopped. Turned around. Pulled beside me and this dear old Chinese man said "Excuse me? Do you need help?" and he gave me a ride.
So, having left my dorm at 5:30pm, I got back at 11:40pm and even then didn't go to sleep until 3am because I had to notify my actors that the shoot was on for tomorrow and then spend the time putting the props and set together. The great irony of all this is this story would've made a much better film.
The takeaway is this: I went through all this hell for a goddamn school project. So as an employee, just imagine what I will get done for YOU!
