2016 | Drama BA: Theatre Film and Television | University of Bristol |
About me
A recent graduate of Bristol University, with a BA in Drama: Theatre, Film and Television, I have had 3 years to experiment with devising work, developing a shared company with friends - Tight Theatre, now FRISKY. We toured our work successfully to critical acclaim for 2 years. Now under the name of FRISKY, we are in the process of delivering workshops to young people about devising work and physical theatre, one to be at WOMAD festival this summer for children. Since graduating, I have worked in various capacities in the industry professionally, from acting and costume designing for an international feature film, alongside Iréne Jacobs, to acting alongside Impermanence Dance Theatre in an R&D for the first dance adaption of a Brecht Play. I am currently seeking more screen acting experience and continuing to devise and perform cabaret work with various artists and FRISKY - currently touring my Theresa May inspired cabaret.Acting experience:
I have acted since my first nativity as Narrator 1. Throughout University, having only acted within theatre, I decided to begin exploring other roles, directing, producing, costume design, stage management. Then setting up Tight Theatre with my friends, a physical theatre company with which we toured our debut show 'PUSSY' for 2 years alongside cabaret work. Although initially co-producing for the company, I went on to devise work and perform with the company and continue to do so with some remaining members in our new company FRISKY.
Most recently, in a very different capacity, I have featured alongside Iréne Jacobs in a Swiss feature film and as an actress in an R&D for the first dance adaptation of a Brecht play (as mentioned above). I performed at WOMAD festival this summer, alongside several TIE performances and workshops and children’s parties. Currently touring my one woman Theresa May inspired cabaret and featuring in a few shorts, advertisements and music videos - all areas I would like to gain increasing knowledge in.
Dancing experience:
Although I don't have a professional dance training background, I have worked with Rambert graduates, Impermanence Dance Theatre for 4 years. They were incredibly influential in the development of Tight Theatre and helped us to launch the company and provided us with platforms to test and perform our work. However, I do see not having dance training as a blessing at times, as a company (now FRISKY) non of us professionally trained dancers, we have been able to use our bodies to create our own physical style and language that has frequently been commented on as so successful because it's never been seen before. As a result, allowing for a very 'real' physical language that is in some ways, although weird, perhaps more relatable.
Singing experience:
I have been a member of choirs throughout my schooling career. The final choir I was a member of for four years, was Tees Valley Youth Choir, as a 1st Soprano, at a time when the choir was rated the best youth choir in the country. I have also been the lead singer of a band created with my friends where we have performed at annual gigs and festivals.
My interests:
Although relatively new, I am hoping to gain as much screen acting experience as possible. My interests also lie in devising work within the fields of physical theatre, performance art and theatre. Costume design also hugely interests me and I have worked increasingly in this field since graduating.
