53 Degrees

  • About
The venue is split into two parts. The largest has a capacity of over 1,000 with a wooden spring dance floor, a 50ft stage and a mezzanine area. The Club area includes a stage, dance floor and DJ booth.

The North West’s ultimate venue opened its doors on Monday 11th April 2005 to a crowd of over 1450 entertainment hungry students and guests.

At the launch party special guests included Radio One’s Colin Murray, a selection of Rock FM DJs and up-and-coming band Little Barry performed to the sell-out crowd.

Events manager Dave Evans said: “Everywhere you walk, all everyone is talking about is 53 Degrees. We’ve been watching people’s expressions as they come into the venue and everyone seems to think it is brilliant.”

UCLan rugby captain Chris Lowden said: “53 Degrees is awesome! It’s just brilliant, you can’t complain about it. It just looks great.”

Bryn Davies, President of the Students’ Union, said: "It is fantastic that 53 Degrees is finally open. I really hope that students will make the most of the facility over the coming weeks as we have some fantastic nights lined up."

The majority of the events at 53 Degrees are open to the public, as well as the vast student population, which enables the University to attract headline acts from the entertainment industry.

Top name acts, such as The Happy Mondays, The Coral, Maximo Park, Supergrass, The Sunshine Underground, The Gossip, Goldfrapp, The Levellers, Goldie Lookin’ Chain, Tim Westwood, Super Furry Animals and Trevor Nelson have already appeared and some have even returned for another dose! 53 Degrees also plays host to leading comedy acts at Stand and Deliver, and a variety of club nights, such as GoodGreef, Decibel and Elysium to name a few. Promo and DIY combine to make a mother of a student night out every thursday at 53 Degrees, with up and coming bands, top DJs and the best drinks deals Preston has to offer!
