Gloucester Cathedral

  • About
There is no formal charge for admission, but adult visitors are asked to make a donation of £3.00 each towards the maintenance of this magnificent building.

The Cathedral opens at 7.30 am and closes at 6.00 pm from Monday to Friday. We close at 6.00 pm on Saturday and 6.00 on pm Sunday. Please note however, that it is not normally possible to have group tours before 9.45 because of morning services.

    Tower Tours
Are you reasonably fit? Can you climb 269 steps up and 269 down again? If so, join one of our Tower Tours and enjoy the view from the roof - on a clear day you can see forty miles across the countryside. On the way up you will visit the ringing chamber and the bell chamber, and when you get down again you can claim a certificate (£1) to show that you made it to the top.

Tower Tours normally take place as follows:
    Wednesdays - Fridays 2.30pm
Saturdays and Bank Holidays 1.30pm and 2.30pm
During school holidays tours may also be available on Mondays and Tuesdays at 2.30pm
