With the departure of the Navy from Greenwich in December 1998, responsibility for the Old Royal Naval College passed to the Greenwich Foundation, which had signed a 150-year lease in July of that year. The Foundation has been established as a registered charity to look after these magnificent buildings and their grounds for the benefit of the nation.
