When you arrive at the Bacup Royal Court Theatre and look at it from Rochdale Road you see the frontage of what appears to be a fairly small, unimposing building. How wrong first impressions can be. The theatre could have been used as a model for the original Tardis for Doctor Who!
Just as you will find the theatre a never ending mine of architectural beauty and surprises we hope that you will also see this web site in the same way. Some of the pages on this web site involve some "scrolling down" and might take a couple of seconds to load, (something we realise that some people do not enjoy). We make no apologies for this. It has to be that way in order to give you a fairly comprehensive insight into the theatre and to help you understand the skill and dedication that is put in by so many volunteers who, over many years have helped to make the Bacup Royal Court Theatre the historical landmark and centre of entertainment that it is today.
Much has been accomplished to maintain and improve such an old building, and it is only through the dedication of the performers, past and present maintenance groups and society members that we have continued to keep the doors open. We are still looking for volunteers to help run and maintain the theatre. If you think that you can help in any way please have a look at the "Get Involved" page and offer a little of your time, whatever skills or abilities you have.
