Princess

  • About
"The Princess has had a checkered history. It was built in 1869 by a private company known as the Market House and Town Hall Company, at a cost of £2,000. Since then it has housed the Council Chambers, been used as a covered market and accommodated the town fire station under its first floor auditorium. In 1994, Sedgemoor District Council embarked upon a major refurbishment programme - almost completely re-building the venue internally and taking out the upper hall to provide an airy ground-floor auditorium and several smaller rooms.

The Princess has a variety of rooms available for hire, some of which double as changing rooms when the hall is used for dramatic or musical productions.

    The Auditorium

The Princess has tiered seating for 200 in the auditorium. The tiered seating is retractable so enabling the main hall to be used for a variety of uses from theatrical performances to social functions, allowing for various configurations of up to120 people seated at tables".
