A 50,000sqft office building near London Fields and Broadway Market, E8. The building was in a serious state of disrepair. Neglected for fifteen years and stood empty for five years. Repeatedly broken into and gutted of anything slightly valuable, pipework and electrical cables, Netil House was a mess when we took it over.
In only 16 months Netil House has become a thriving community of 102 small and start-up creative companies of between 1 and 10 employees. Within the building we have: music and recording studios, acrobats, artists, photographic studios, web designers, art restoration, furniture design, an internet radio station, a laser-cutting studio, film companies, jewelry makers and other artisans. We also have a cafe on the second floor, a Pilates studio, a thriving live-music venue and a 6000sqft gallery and dry hire space that has already been used for 18 major events - exhibitions, films and music videos. Netil House has over 200 people working in it daily. It pulls 500 people each week on average to various events.
Netil Market in Netil House's car park is a thriving buzz of creative small traders. We are also hoping to obtain planning consent to create a green garden on the roof to be enjoyed by residents and general public alike.
Residents say Netil House is a unique place to work and we have a long waiting list of people wanting to get studios.
From the early days at the end of 2009 when it still looked like a squat Netil house has gradually transformed and is now has a VoIP telecommunications system, super high speed internet connectivity, tea stations on every floor and an awesome events space.
