The New Theatre is one of Dublin’s smallest, most intimate venues, with a capacity of 66 seats and a long list of critically acclaimed productions in its seventeen year history. The New Theatre supports new writing and endeavours to provide a theatre experience to those who want to develop their artistic ability by giving them a space to create and produce in a professional setting. This state-of-the-art theatre is housed within a prominent building on East Essex Street, with an entrance through Connolly Books.
Founded in 1997 by Anthony Fox, the New Theatre once occupied a building dating back to the 17th century once owned by John Rogerson (Sir). The theatre was redeveloped in partnership with Connolly Books and re-launched to coincide with the tenth anniversary of its opening.
