About me
Short description of my voice:My voice is rich and warm with a soft Scot’s lilt. Recent newspaper articles reveal that of all UK accents ‘the educated Scottish tongue’ inspires the most confidence and trust in listeners; it therefore makes sense for me to use my natural accent whenever possible and this is my preference. However, I'm happy to deliver scripts in RP or other regional accents as required.
My style has variously been described as intelligent, sultry, reassuring, sexy, authoritative, soothing and trustworthy.
Along with clear diction and the distinctive quality of my voice, thoughtful interpretation of text is something I pride myself on.
Additional skills:
I am a freelance BBC Scotland television announcer, so am used to stressful, live situations and quick turnaround of scripts, which I also write.
Industry awards:
I voiced a the award winning BBC Radio Scotland trail, 'When Bossman Jay Lost His Ears'. It won silver in the Best Radio Promo category at the Kinsale Sharks Awards, Septemeber 2013
