Casting "Rigoletto," an opera.

Welsh National Opera is looking for one female-identifying and five male-identifying people to be part of a performance ensemble a new production of "Rigoletto."

Production states: "The ensemble will be an integral part of the production, playing key movement and acting roles in a number of scenes across the opera.

Performers can come from a number of different areas: dance, fight choreography, physical theatre, circus, clowning, commedia dell’arte. Each performer will be expected to act well, but there will be dance, physical theatre, slapstick and fight choreography involved for all.

The production is set in a decadent and debauched 17th century court, and as such the staging will contain scenes of a highly sexual nature, depictions of violence and nudity (references might include Fellini’s Satyricon, Mary and George, The Libertine etc).

As such, we are looking for a group of performers who are comfortable with this content, can be sardonically funny, and are extraordinarily compelling on stage.
