Mercury Prize 2018 music nominees revealed – Lily Allen and Arctic Monkeys enjoy nods
This year’s Mercury Prize nominees were announced this morning (Thursday July 26) with Lily Allen’s lively No Shame, Arctic Monkeys’ electric Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino and Florence + the Machine’s triumphant High as Hope in competition for the prestigious UK album award. Arctic Monkeys’ 2018 nominations make them the second most nominated act in Mercury Prize history.
Singer-songwriter Sampha's powerful debt album Process, took home last year's Mercury prize with other nominees including Ed Sheeran, Alt-j, Blossoms, Dinosaur, Glass Animals, J Hus, Kate Tempest, The xx, The Big Moon, Stormzy and Loyle Carner.

The winner of the 2018 Mercury award will be declared Thursday September 20 at London’s Eventim Apollo theatre.
