About me
I have explored the side of me that enjoys performing and acting, and wow, it’s been an experience! I was enrolled at Identity School of Acting and was able to explore a profession that pushes me outside my comfort zone and shows me the true meaning of being human.I had the usual upbringing going to secondary school in the UK but took a slight deviation when I decided to go to University at Penn State in the US to study Pre-Medicine. I was particularly interested in understanding if the stereotypes I had been fed as a child by the media were true, as I have always had a desire to understand human reactions and behaviours. Also living in America was always a dream of mine. While there I was part of a Christian step team, where we performed complex synchronized dances that blended African folk traditions with popular culture, involving clapping, body slapping, vocalizations, and dramatic movements. I remember the feeling of adrenaline before a performance and felt that same feeling when preparing for and performing short scenes in class at Identity and knew this was the right place to be.
I love music and dancing and I think the ability to express yourself through music and movement shows a freedom of character and an ability to reach so many people. I have been in choirs throughout my life, and I enjoy art and choregraphed dance, such as hip hop, contemporary dance and heels and will attend classes to keep up to date with the new moves and trends.
I have worked in the NHS and the charity sector in an administrative capacity for over 10 years, which allowed me to delve into the part of me that wants to help the those that are suffering. As a line manager I felt a sense of fulfilment when I would assist my staff and help them see their true potential, and it is why I make it my business to help people understand their worth. I am currently a project manager for a tech company, and I believe the experience I have gained in my day-to-day life is more than transferable in acting as I can bring my people management, customer service and organisation skills, to name a few, to this space.
I have always been very adaptable and follow direction well, so I know I have the potential to flourish in this field. I am hoping to explore the industry via the different mediums of stage, screen and voice and I am also looking to work on projects that will give me the experience of working on sets and with different creatives. I am really excited to develop new skills and work with different people from all walks of life, helping them tell their stories and bring understanding. I have two daughters who are 4 and 11 and it is my mission to continue to show them that you can follow your dreams and passions no matter how your journey started.
Acting experience:
Since starting drama school I have performed short scenes on screen and via Zoom in class with multiple partners as well as solo. In House Performance - July 2021 and showcase on July 2022. I loved performing on stage and look forward to working on more projects.
