About me
David Bresnahan was born in Stockport, Cheshire on 21st July 1987.His passion for acting was always there at a young age but was only first pursued at the age of 16 when he accepted the role of Dandy Dan in an Am-dram production of Bugsy Malone at The Stockport Plaza. From then on he performed in musical theatre productions of Godspell and The Wizard of Oz, in which he played the Tin man.
Beyond this experience, David wanted to focus more on the art of acting and did so by attending various organisations around his local area, seeking male actors of his age and this led to him to play leading roles in David Copperfield and Amy's View.
David studied at The University of Salford from 2007 through until 2011, working through a higher national diploma, before moving onto a degree in Performing Arts. During his four years in Salford he was able to hone his skills as an actor for both stage and screen as well as learn the arts of writing and film making.
During this time, David also took on courses in improvisation and stand up comedy at Manchester's Comedy Store, Deansgate to add further strings to his bow and this has come into good practice, when in 2013, David collaborated in creating Manchester Castings Social - Manchester's Prime Networking Event and began hosting duties in 2014, "The event serves to bring actors together to build relationships with other creatives, as well as introduce it's guests to established industry professionals to seek advice and to break down the barriers and loneliness that the acting industry can serve up", David told The Acting Brunch with Dru Jones in 2019. "If people just want to come and have a few beers and laugh at some of my jokes, then that's awesome, I don't expect someone to walk in as a novice and walk out as a successful actor with all the required wisdom and tonnes of connections".
Since graduating, David has continued his training with DNA Performance Resource, Act4TV and, most recently, Inspire Actors Studio as well as collaborating with multiple film makers and theatre companies to improve his skill set as well as to seek further opportunities to help achieve his overall goal of working regularly in TV and Film.
A main trait of his characters are often those that are outspoken and unsavoury, whilst he's also a dab hand at exposing a sense of vulnerability, with a gentile nature and has a natural ability to play with dry comedic timing.
Film's that David has starred in have featured in over a dozen countries, including the majority of mainland Europe and The Toronto Film Festival as well as appearing on Amazon Prime in the US and UK
