Runner/Camera Operative, Dayglow Media, Series of short films for BBC knowledge - 2019
Over the course of a few months Dayglow Media were employed by the BBC to create a series of short films which focused on teaching and knowledge. My main tasks included setting up lighting, green screens, switching lenses and often using the Canon C-100 MKII when Simon our director was not operating the camera.
First Assistant Camera/Focus Puller, “OUTCAST” Proof Of Concept Shoot - 2019 (Independent)
For this shoot I was chosen by a friend who was given the role of DOP to be his First AC for a proof of concept shoot which is yet to be completed. I was again using a C-100 MKII and pulling focus wirelessly whilst using a Sony reference display. During the shoot I made an effort to pull focus without looking at the reference screen and found that towards the end of the shoot I was getting really comfortable using only my eyes. The final shoot will take approximately eight months and we will be using a RED camera.
First Assistant Camera/Focus Puller, “Leave Her Be” shoot - 2020 (Independent)
This project was a creation of the DOP from the previous shoot, so again I was chosen to work with him. “Leave Her Be” is a short 10 minute horror film written and directed by the DOP of “OUTCAST” and was very exciting to work on as we had some talented young actors, producers and ADs involved. Being a self made project the budget was small, although we had access to an Arri Alexa and some Arri Prime lenses for the shoot. My main roles were pulling focus, writing all technical specs for every shot, rolling camera, switching lenses, moving camera for shot and generally liaising with our DOP Maxx. The experience of using the Arri was amazing for me as it is the industry standard. -
