About me
My name is Jonathan Aguilar, and I’ve recently completed broadcasting television program at Seneca@York.In grade 11, I took a yearbook course which gave me the experience of interpreting events and places from different angles that I find would make me suitable for the internship program. During events that I was assigned to in this course, I realized that taking a single critical picture of elements that were the strongest could capture an entire story’s worth of words. I also was exposed to interviewing people so that I learned to effectively quote others and judiciously use them on event pages for the yearbook. I also developed my technical skills with software such as adobe photoshop, illustrator, and indesign to design and customize pages. I’ve also started to learn more on using editing softwares for editing videos such as adobe premiere.
In May 2017, I’ve recently volunteered in a television company called Rogers TV, where I’ve experienced hands on training in many aspects of television production, producing informative and entertaining programs. It provided me self confidence and communication abilities as I gain more experience and training, giving me opportunities to move into positions, such as camera operator, graphics, audio operator, floor director, and VTR. Requiring more responsibilities and more challenges.
I’ve completed a program in Seneca@York called “broadcasting television” where I’ve learned to enhance my skills with more advanced settings using technical softwares such as AVID (including symphony), Pro Tools, and adobe premiere pro, photoshop, illustrator, and after effects. I also learned more in depth of roles in studio productions, and operating studio equipment such as vari cameras, switcher board, audio board, lav mics, graphic softwares (xpression), and CCU.
After graduating from Seneca@York, I became a freelancer working for Nimmo Videography in July 2018, where I gain my experience as a Production Assistant and Video Editor. Responsible for setting up and tearing down camera equipments, setting coordinates on our next shooting location, handling position as a audio operator and taking post shoot notes for future references. I am also responsible for editing highlight videos including HR Leaders Summit 2018 Promo.
In November 2018, I work for Bell media as a freelancer Assistant Editor where I become more proficient with AVID and adobe softwares, including AVID Interplay, and media encoder. This position has given me more responsibilities and challenges including editing, digitizing, and transcoding clips, videos and episodes on a taped/analog based union workflow.
