About me
Hello I’m Tom, I am one of those people that live for their creative side. My specialist area is working within the camera crew as an Assistant or Lighting Camera Operator but looking to step up into DOP roles and working on higher production. While studying Art and Design in the late 90's, I was introduced 35mm photography and instantly fell in love with the formal. This has lead me taking my passion of creating still images into the moving. Over the last 4 or so years I have been lucky to work on and with a variety of companies, projects and films with great people.
Outside from working on short films I spend my free time at the local ice rink, skating and watching hockey games. Sadly the team folded but I like to travel and this takes me to rinks all over the UK.

All the best

Highlights
-
I am an active person, who is passionate about my work, and looking to progress onto the highest productions. I like to keep myself as busy as possible and I am always looking for new projects and crews to join.
Recently I have worked as Camera Assistant on 'Hard' feature concept trailer, Gaffer on a short Werewolf film for MOTW internet series and on 35mm short film ‘Studio Love 62.’ Where I worked closely with the Sparks and Gaffer, assisting and setting up all the lighting, ranging from 150w to 10k, Dedo’s and Arri Pocket lights. This was a great experience as I felt I was more of a trainee and runner/driver.
I have been working freelance for around three years. In the last year I have successfully worked on a Northumberland Heritage documentary ‘The Forgotten Workers.’ This has been nominated for a national trust award. Furthermore I have been working alongside Dir. Rob Burrows on his new low budget feature film ‘Flower man.’ His previous film ‘Entwinement’ has currently been put forward for a Best Drama Nomination, at the Portobello Film Festival 2012. I have just finished working as DOP/Camera and 2ndAD on a local short film ‘The Argument.’
My skills have been gained and strengthened from working on a variety of different productions and crew rolls, where I have specialised in Camera Assisting. I am an eager, flexible person, who if focused on my crew duties, whatever my role is. I have a professional attitude, with the confidence to act independently, as well as under the guidance from others. I have sharp eyes and great visual perception, which enables me to spot and resolve issues quickly. This allows me to work successfully alongside Camera Operators, DOP’s and head of departments in pre-empting their needs. Furthermore, I am willing to travel, as I have my own vehicle, along with having family and friends throughout the U.K with whom I can stay, if needed (including London).
Base Skillset:
• Working knowledge of various HD and DSLR cameras including Sony NEX-FS700e, Sony EX3, Canon C300, Canon D5 mark II/III, Panasonic HVX200.
• Setting up basic camera kit, tripods, rigs, monitors, follow focus, mat box, red rock lens adaptor etc.
• Experience working around lighting kit, Redhead, Dedo, Kino flo and Pocket lights Arri.
• Setting up and using dolly and track.
• Driving cars, vans and Luton trucks.

While studying Art and Design in the late 90's, I was introduced 35mm photography and instantly fell in love with the formal. Sadly I was burgled and lost all of my photographic kit, I am currently reinvesting and building my kit back up.
I have been runner up in the distant landscape competition.
Exhibited work in London .
