About me
Right from my early days, I had always been an enthusiast of music and the arts, securing several accolades in music, sculpture, painting and crafts. As I turned fifteen, I got a Kodak Camera and three rolls of Kodak 200 color film. Playing around with my new toy arose my curiosity and interest to learn photography. It is this very same curiosity that led me to experiment with a series of digital cameras, DSLR’s, mirror-less cameras and cine cameras. This delight to capture a memory forever evolved into a passion that in time nurtured my interest for cinematography. My skill and interest in computers and the digital arts were enhanced as my passion for photography underwent a metamorphosis from a hobby to a life goal. I was eager to learn more about computers as I could see the visual world going completely digital. A time had to come when the major chunk of photography and videography would shift from the camera to microchips and computers. This realization led me to pursue my Bachelor’s in Computer Science Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology University.
Upon the completion of my Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering, I decided to work as an apprentice under Mr. Ajay Chitnis, a reputed documentary film Producer and Director. I worked with him for 8 months as an Assistant Cameraman on the TV documentary series “Trailblazers”, which airs weekly. I worked on the Sony alpha A7S and Sony FS7 cameras shooting interviews on multi-cam set-ups and capturing candid moments of the places we visited.
I have recently completed a film making course at the Asian Academy of Film and Television(AAFT), in Camera and Lighting Techniques for Film under the guidance of Prof. Kalyan Sarkar, a renowned Cinematographer and the Dean of AAFT. The importance of visual juxtaposition for cinematic storytelling has begun to create a flow in the films I have recently shot. The Institute also taught me how to use HMI, Brute, Kino-flo and other industrial Tungsten Halogen Lighting for indoor single camera and multi-camera shoots to create dynamic and dramatic lighting moods.
