About me
It blew me away the first time I found out that most of the sound effects and recordings in films and radio are created in a studio. I knew I wanted to be part of this world, so applied to study commercial music at the University of the West of Scotland to learn about commercial music and how to conjure sounds out of thin air. The Music, Film, Sound, Aesthetic module helped me utilise and enjoy what DAW’s like Pro Tools could achieve. This was the first time I discovered a true way to express myself in a creative way. Resulting in an award for UWS best sound design 2018. My next step was to consolidate my skills with experience in the real world. Currently I am using a Zoom recorder to collect sound for my own personal library while learning advanced microphone techniques, surround sound recording and MS recording techniques. During this time, I have developed a real passion for sound design and was lucky enough to work closely with Matt Thompson at Rockethouse Productions. He trusted me to work on a number of complex productions. It was a steep learning curve. I started with spot effects, creating multitrack atmospheres and automating Altiverb reverb. Then moved on to building a Kontakt Foley instrument of American pickup trucks. I was also trusted with the automation of the EQ and compression throughout the production. These projects will transmit on BBC radio 4 and are available on Audible.Referees:
