A true life love affair between a British fighter ace and an English cabaret singer set against the backdrop of Malta during WWII.

Christina the Star of Malta, a cabaret singer who arrives in Malta just before the outbreak of WWII has a romantic affair with the well-renowned reconnaissance pilot 'Warby' Adrian Warburton. Their love affair lasts throughout the 'Siege of Malta', 1940-42, during WWII with their passion growing. Malta is besieged and Christina, after the nightclub in which she was the star singer - 'The Star of Strait Street', is closed, she takes to lift the spirits of the allied forces by singing in the streets at improvised stages and helping in the communal war effort every day. Until after one of Warby's occasional visits leaves her heartbroken she takes a job at Air Command in the catacombs of Malta to try and find news of him. Whilst working the plotting table Christina hears details of his flight, being chased by axis forces Warby disappears whilst on a secret mission and is feared shot down. All of this is told as a memory from Christina, reflecting from her last days in the 80's, surrounded by echoes and her memories from the past.
