Split the View in Two will be a 15 minute 16mm film, taking a story reported recently in the Newspaper where two men had suffered a horrific death whilst undertaking trials for a Large Drugs Company and marrying this with an interest in Anamorphic imagery. The publishing of this story increased the amount of people volunteering for trials considerably, and this strange fact - most likely a result of the accidental advertisement of financial remuneration - highlights a contemporary relationship to the body which seems Anamorphic. Anamorphic Perspective forces the viewer to both succumb to and resist absorption into the picture plane: the anamorphic distortion making the viewer aware of phenomenal as well as representational space. It is this flux - between an awareness of phenomenal space - that which cognizable by the senses and a relation to how that 'sense' relates to it's representation - in this case within an economic value system, which informs Split the view in Two Part II. Within this contemporary newspaper article particularly - the body as cipher within a market seems to overshadow sensorial value - or 'sense' (as in common sense).
