What does Pre selected mean?
I WAS TOLD I WAS PRE SELECTED FOR A PART IN A FILM AND ASKED TO SEND IN PHOTOS OF MYSELF IN A BIKINI? WHAT DOES PRE SELECTED MEAN? AND IS THE BIKINI THING NORMAL
Well for a start before you send any bikini shots I'd make sure the production company is legit. It's very easy for anyone to find out actors details from the internet as we are all registered on sites like this. They could then say they've seen your details and are interested in calling you to an official casting where they would have to inform you beforehand that they would like to see you in a bikini. Unless you are also a model in which case you may have these photo's available but still they would usually just go through an agency. Sounds a bit doge to me.
However there is a chance it is a professional film company in which case there is no way they would take offence if you contacted them for futher details, googled them to make sure they are who they say they are and that your pictures aren't going to end up in some teenage boys hand.
And if its a J.Arthur production i'd run a mile!
HAHA....I APPLIED FOR A FILM AND THEY RESPONDED WITH SAYING I WAS PRE SELECTED AND AS WE WOULD BE FILMING IN THE CANARY ISLANDS WOULD I SEND SOME BIKINI SHOTS. THE COMPANY IS CALLED GROUCHO FILMS AND I GOT IT OFF OF ACTORS INC. I DID ASK THEM FOR FURTHER DETAILS AND THEY STRANGELY HAVENT RESPONDED? MAYBE IT IS DODGY BUT DONT ACTORS INC. ONLY ADVERTISE PRO. JOBS?

Well not too sure have looked up the company and they don't seem dodgy they are an established company who apparently have seen have people like Joanna Lumley, Adam Garcia, Francesca Annis so they must be ok?

I think that they've probably got a list of people for each part and since it's going to be shot on an island there will probably be beach scenes and they wanna see what their artists would look like before they invite them for audition, to save on both theirs and our time. Probably just means 'are being considered for' - so we've ticked one box, now we have to tick another.
Yeah sounds about right, i thought we'd probably have to audition!
Guys while we are on this subject can I please give a word of warning.
Firstly this is in no way directed to the film company in question.
When I was in my first year of drama school I sent off my details to a company in the hopes of maybe getting my pro work through them. They got back in touch with me and asked for some photos that would be suitable for each project, including some nude shots. The guy then offered to develop these photos to save me expense....
Turns out this guy was a convicted sex offender and I was lucky he hadn't invited me to his house for the shoot! However, he is the one with the negs-ouch.
People pray on the naiivety of actors starting out and your hunger for work.
Can I just point out again that this is not targeted at this particular company, they may be completely legit and it's up to you if you send off your photos etc.
