Hi Paul, nice question! For me it would have to be Edna the Inebriate Woman. Edna was played by the magnificent Patricia Hayes. It was broadcast by the Beeb as part of their Play for Today series and I'll never forget it. I think it was written by Jeremy Sandford.

I think I'd like to play Mrs Overall in "Acorn Antiques". Or Betty Turpin in Coronation Street.

For me it has to be Henry V. I know it's Shakespeare but it does fit your 'film' criteria. Not one specific reason, just a role I've wanted to play for a very long time...

:)

TV: Blake in a big budget remake of Blake's 7 or Number Six in a proper remake of The Prisoner (didn't like the remake that they attempted a few years ago.) and The Doctor in Doctor Who, of course.

Film: The Vincent Price part in Theatre of Blood. Iago in Othello. Dysart in Equus (it's a play, I know, but it was also a film.)

Actually there are loads...

Who?:

Gowan McGland in "Reuben, Reuben"

Why?:

I consider it a an underrated master piece, and it stands as one of my favourite films of all time. I am really drawn to the character of Gowan and think it would be an absolute hoot to recreate him in a remake.

Why is it not available on digital format? Surely the DVD release is well overdue?
