I am just wanting to ask about anybody who is totally new to this Mandy platform , and if you're like me just in your home without any real experience and no Agent
And if you are just independent and doing everything on a whim and on your own
I've been on this platform for several years. Honestly, it's mostly miss rather than hit. A paid membership will open up more opportunities, but I'm not sure they are directly commissioned by the actual potential employers.
It seems like this is a secondary feeder for the actual talent seekers. As in, I believe the Company seeking the voice talent uses several talent platforms and agencies to get what they are looking for, and this kind of network is among the last to be heard. Just my opinion. Very few actually seem to view and listen to files.
There are a wide variety of voice talents on here. Home recording seems to be the majority, and the audio quality is definitely a factor I'd say, in attracting any attention. Get yourself a good quality microphone, and very acoustically controlled recording environment. Upload good quality files, and hope it catches someone's attention. That seems to be the reality with this platform. I've applied and uploaded dozens of files. Only ever had one contact from them all through Mandy. I did have two approach me directly though, outside of here. So don't give up.
I do everything freelance. I have a very good studio at home that I put a lot of effort into taming the acoustics. My equipment is decent, but I did not shell out thousands for it. If you're planning on only doing home studio work, then put some investment into it, otherwise, rely on your voice and hope to land studio work.
