About me
Metropolitan Opera Soprano, Martina Arroyo describes Courteney Lynn Wilds as possessing a solid, expressive voice capable of many colors and a talented actress with excellent stage presence and personal charisma. Ms. Wilds’ variety of styles, show her consistent vocal command, musical integrity and dramatic force. After her operatic debut with Regina Opera as Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera, Nino Pantano of The Italian Voice described her as having a round middle voice, soaring top and a lower extension that would indicate a much needed Verdi soprano in the making. Continuing her tenure with Regina Opera, Ms. Wilds performed the title role in Tosca also to critical acclaim. Her other roles include Leonora from La Forza del Destino, Madame Lidoine from Dialogues des Carmélites, Elisabeth from Tannhaüser, Elsa from Lohengrin, and the title roles from Aida, Manon Lescaut, Vanessa and Ariadne auf Naxos.Equally at home in concert repertoire, Ms. Wilds has been the featured soprano soloist since 2003 for performances of the Messiah and The Seven Last Words of Christ with the New Jersey Conference Choir of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She has also participated in concerts of operatic scenes at both Merkin and CAMI Halls, performed numerous solo recitals and has been the featured soloist for various non-profit organizations, include the American Diabetes Association and the Manalapan Arts Council.
Ms. Wilds’ training has been varied working with some of opera’s leading instructors including Diana Soviero, Enza Ferrari and Bernard Uzan. She’s studied voice with Judith Coen and Arthur Levy and been directed by Linda Lehr, Jay Michaels, Lucinda Winslow and Elizabeth Micari. She holds a BA in Biology/Pre-Med from Hampton University and an MBA in Marketing from Rutgers Business School. She’s a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).
