About me
In high school, people would not have characterized me as a drama student. It was easy enough to understand why. I was introverted and performance shy. The last place anyone expected to see me was in a drama studio, but there I was year after year signing up for drama classes. I was enchanted by this art form even though it scared me most of the time. Through my varied experiences in high school drama classes, summer youth mentorship and leadership programs with Soul Pepper Theatre, and at the Fountain School of Performing Arts at Dalhousie University, I have had the unique opportunity to learn from excellent teachers, guides, and mentors. As a person I am resilient, resourceful and hard working. I am relentless in my desire to learn, grow and develop new skills as a theatre artist and it is my intention to have a career in the Arts. All aspects of Theatre Arts has been my fascination since high school and I very much value the multiple opportunities that I’ve had in various settings to explore stage craft, directing, stage managing, and lighting design, as well as performing in a variety of original and published works for the stage.I am a recent graduate of the Fountain School of Performing Arts at Dalhousie University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Acting. While my degree focus at Dalhousie was largely classical, my studies were enhanced with classes in dance, voice and singing. In the summer of 2014 I went to Spain as part of a summer study program to earn credits in my minor which is Spanish. My summer, however culminated with a two-week intensive in corporal mime technique with a theatre company named Moveo. This course taught me to explore my movement potential and how movement can inform character, intention, and story. I enjoy taking kinetic risks and observing how they can provide the underpinnings of performance and theatricality. I am very drawn to physical practices and have supplemented my training as an actor with Yoga, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, and circuit training.
