Schitt's Creek is a Canadian television sitcom created by Dan and Eugene Levy. The series premiered on CBC Television on January 13, 2015 and is produced by Not a Real Company Productions.
The series follows the trials and tribulations of the formerly wealthy Rose family who lose all their money and are forced to relocate to Schitt's Creek, a small town they bought as a joke. Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy) and his wife Moira Rose (Catherine O'Hara) head up the family, alongside their two adult children, David Rose (Dan Levy) and Alexis Rose (Annie Murphy), and the series follows their journey to coming to terms with their new life.
The town of Schitt’s Creek is filled with diverse, idiosyncratic characters who help lead the Rose family to journeys of self-discovery, albeit with moments of terror as they adjust to the town. Notable stars include: Chris Elliott, Emily Hampshire, Jennifer Robertson, Sarah Levy, Dustin Milligan and Noah Reid.
Having won the hearts of audiences across the world and amassing a large fan base, the series has also been critically acclaimed, winning two ACTRA Awards, 18 Canadian Screen Awards, and has secured multiple nominations at the Critics' Choice Television Awards. In 2020, Schitt's made history at the Primetime Emmy Awards, winning all its major categories: Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead and Supporting Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and more. The series’ original network was CBC Television and has since begun streaming on Netflix.
