House of Cards resumes production after Kevin Spacey allegations

The political thriller was shut down in October after actor Anthony Rapp – and, shortly after, over a dozen other men – claimed star Kevin Spacey had sexually harassed or assaulted them in the past.

Netflix and Media Rights Capital announced, soon after, that they were cutting Spacey (who played lead Frank Underwood) from the show.

House of Cards Season 6 will star Robin Wright as Claire Underwood, along with Michael Kelly, Patricia Clarkson, Jayne Atkinson, Derek Cecil and Constance Zimmer.

The series will run for eight episodes as opposed to its usual thirteen.

Details of what way the plot will go without Spacey are scarce.

House of Cards has wowed audiences since debuting in 2013 and was one of the TV shows to aid a major shift in viewing habits, encouraging fans to flock to streaming services rather than traditional channels.

The Netflix original has been nominated for 53 Emmys since it began, winning six (for music, directing, sound mixing, guest acting, casting and cinematography) as well as two Golden Globes and two Screen Actors Guild awards for Spacey.

Since being dropped from production, Kevin Spacey has been quiet publicly, was dropped by his agent and has undergone investigations from Scotland Yard.

Ridley Scott also cut the 58-year-old actor from awards contender All the Money in the World and re-shot the actor's footage with Canadian screen legend Christopher Plummer.

The Emmys also rescinded their International Emmy Founders Award which was due to go to Spacey last year.
