Bio:
One of the best things about Acting is working within a team. I remember being cast in my first Play in Stoke-on-Trent and I think it’s great how a group of people who likely know nothing about each other, then come together to make a production as good as it can be. This is what motivates me to be an Actor and it definitely keeps me feeling positive and hungry for the next role.
Positivity. I’m not normally one for clichés but one point I’ve learnt from Acting and just life, is that if you try to be positive, even if you have no justification to be, it tends to breed positivity around you.
I think Acting means creating a world for that person to live in and being aware of their backstory, so that I can hopefully, feel a characters’ thoughts in a natural and believable way. This is an exciting and sometimes intimidating part of preparing a role, but it’s also something I genuinely love doing.
I am committed to improving myself and learning the craft of being an Actor. To that end, I have been attending weekly Film & TV Workshops, completed a Screen Combat course and performed in Theatre groups and Film productions across Staffordshire and Yorkshire. I also want to keep stepping outside my comfort zone and I’ve recently completed my Introductory Level in British Sign Language.
I’ve also realised that you have to set goals in order to get to where you want to be. 2022 has been a good year and I’ve been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to audition for TV Pilots, Feature Films and Plays being adapted for film. I’ve secured roles in several of these production types this year, including some leading roles. I’m fully aware this is not a result of just my effort: I’ve had some brilliant mentors at Brook Talent Management, the Workshops and Theatre productions that I’ve been part of.
I’m excited to see what happens next, and I want to keep enjoying Acting and to give my best to each production I’m involved in, both for my fellow performers and for the people that have helped me reach this stage.
