About me
After completing a BMus(Hons) Degree at the University of Huddersfield, Debbie gained a PGCE (Post-Graduate Certificate of Education) from Manchester Metropolitan University. She taught full time and then as Head of the Voice and Curriculum department at Oldham Music Service for a number of years where she conducted the Oldham Boys Choir, Senior. Debbie later completed, with Distinction, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Opera and Vocal Studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire. She now has a varied working life which is both challenging and exciting. Her teaching work covers both Primary and Secondary levels. She directs several award winning choirs and runs choral workshops and short educational courses for teachers and other professionals.
As a performer, Debbie has established herself as a popular, entertaining and informed artist with regular professional engagements mainly in Oratorio and Concert work, Corporate Events, lighter musical repertoire and recently, some Voice-Over work for the radio. Credits include, concerts as Soprano soloist with various choirs and choral societies, performing such works as Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's Nelson Mass, Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Benjamin Britten's Noye's Fludde. She has also performed with all-female Opera Company Opera Femina in a production of Puccini's Suor Angelica and a semi-staged version of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. She recently performed a role in the World Premiere production of Scoring a Century, a contemporary Opera written by David Blake and Keith Warner.
Debbie's versatility as a performer is a rare talent which makes her a unique and gifted artiste. December 2009, saw the recording of Debbie's first Classical CD entitled At Last. Her Jazz album Maybe, You Know . . . was completed in February 2011.
