About me
Johnny Whiting:I have been acting and enhancing my acting craft for a great number of years now, training at the University of East London in Drama, Applied Theatre and Performance for which I received Distinction,
But also and East 15 Acting School for my Masters course.
My Acting style had been extremely ranged, from very serious work with Chekhov, Shakespeare and Shepard respectably to more comedic and commedia roles of Snow White, Pinocchio and even a young Rick Astley impersonator for the BBC!
I have also used my acting as a medium for getting young children involved and engaged with the arts and literature, shown from my work with the swashbuckling novel, Treasure Island, which allowed kids to get excited at classic children’s literature.
I also used drama in the London Bubble Company, that lended my acting as an introduction into reading and writing for children with learning difficulties or has English as a second or third language.
I have had previous experience in both theatre, television and film, appearing in both on ITV and BBC for different roles and with it had come a wealth of understanding regarding the style of performing for that specific medium of performance.
Furthermore I have undertaken a great many short films for various Universities and, from that, experienced a greater knowledge to fully engage with camera work and the skills required in front of camera.
As an Actor my primary tool is my body, and therefore I keep in very good shape to help that cause and have skills which directly linking to helpful up keeping of my physical body:
I am trained as a qualified Lifeguard (NPLQ qualification) and therefore have lifesaving, CPR and first Aid training
I’m an avid Swimmer, Long Distance Runner and have trained in two forms of the TaeKwon Do martial art (Imperial and World)
My Physically from my fitness routine has come into practice with my comedic, high energy roles, most particular with an acting company I have been a part of from East 15, Lost Key Theatre,
In this I performed the character of Sketch, who throughout the performance never speaks, instead all his emotions and expressions must be portrayed through his movements, his actions and reactions from other characters.
For this particular performance I received an extremely positive review which is available on my profile page.
I am also a keen Singer, have a strong list of accents at my disposal (particularly regarding UK regional accents) and, during my personal projects, have used my voice for audiobooks of many classic stories.
I love working with other actors, and truly respect the people I work with, I have a friendly demeanour and am always happy to listen to my fellow peers and willing to delve headlong into each new character I work with.
Acting for me is a joy and I’m lucky that my job is my joy and I’m working with similar minded people.
