BIOG – MAUREEN BRYAN
Maureen is an actress, writer, director, acting coach, and producer, having worked nationally and internationally. Born in Liverpool, Maureen’s early training was at the Elliot Clarke College of Dance & Drama and later at the London Centre of Theatre Studies. Film director’s course at LU.

Maureen became co-producer of Kolectiv Theatre Productions collaborating with Serbian director Aleksandar Dundjerovic and produced a new version of the classic play The Cherry Orchard which premiered in Liverpool and toured London, Serbia and Iran winning 3 International Awards for The Cherry Orchard (Best Production and Best Actress for her performance of Ranyevskaya in Serbia, with a special audience award in Iran.

They went on to produce multi-media production of Club New World Order and The Glass Menagerie. In 2014 they returned to Serbia with Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with the KG Children’s Theatre.

More recently she has focussed on writing for television co-writer Chris McDonough which is currently in development. She has also been script consultant with Tony Bryan on a screenplay based on his published books 'Baltimore' which went on to win an award in the Los Angeles Movie Awards in 2019.

BACKGROUND
Her professional career began as acting ASM at the Liverpool Empire Theatre, working with comedy veterans Melvyn Hayes and Windsor Davies. Her early film experience began with Chariots of Fire and Yentl which led to a dream moment when she found herself being directed her icon Barbra Streisand. London called and she began work at the Apollo Victoria theatre whilst auditioning. Videos with Elton John and Cliff Richard followed and some highlights working with Liza Minelli.
Her acting credits are numerous and include, Ranyevskaya in The Cherry Orchard, Amanda, in The Glass Menagerie, Joyce in Alan, Liz in Hancock’s Lost Half Hour, Sheila, 99 Heyworth Street, The Winslow Boy, The Voysey Inheritance and as Mrs. Mossop in Trelawny of the Wells at the New Players Theatre, London. Radio: A Christmas radio tribute to classic comedy duo Steptoe and Son. Television, Evermore (Disney Channel), BT World Cup TV commercial, and music videos with Elton John and Cliff Richard.
Maureen was the Show Manager on the 2012 National tour of the BBC children’s series In the Night Garden. In 2013 became a freelance director, commissioned by the youth charity 'Action for Achievement' to direct a series of musical plays for children and young people including - 80 Miles from Home, a musical set in WW2, Victorian drama - The Ghosts of Kirkdale for the Unity Theatre and Bully Dancer a play about bullying in the community.

Maureen will continue to combine her acting with her writing and producing career and will always seek to bring her unique style and dedication to any project.
