  As a founder member of the Sub Rosa Theatre Company, I have written/co-written, directed, produced and acted in close to twenty new pieces of work for them. These productions have been performed at venues as diverse as Leicester Square (the inaugural West End Live), the Tower of London, Chelsea Football Club, Charlton Football Club, the Cabinet War Rooms and the Army Museum. These bespoke plays were commissioned by Westminster Council to depict historical events that were being taught in that years' school curriculum and/or enjoying a significant anniversary. Among our subjects were World War I and II , Charles Dickens, Guy Fawkes, Alcock and Brown and Charles Darwin.

  In recent years I have turned my hand to making my own work by writing and producing short films including Testimony and The Appraisal. Filmed entirely using two iPhone 4S's on a budget of £30 (£15 for batteries and £15 for lunch!), The Appraisal was acclaimed by The Guardian as 'A cracking little short. It just goes to show that if you have a great idea for a project, the only barrier to doing it is yourself and how inventive you can be to achieve your ends'. In 2018 I wrote, storyboarded and appeared in the award winning short ‘Not a Moment More’ for Third Iris Films.

  About me

  My name is David Knox Williams and I am an actor and writer with almost twenty years of professional experience working in stage and film. For several years, I wrote and performed new plays for the theatre company I helped co-found - Sub Rosa (see below). I have fronted internet films for cancer awareness and online bullying (CEOP), while my comedy chops were put to good use in the Trainline - 'Be Sensible' advertising campaign for DLKW Lowe. I narrated Katrina Palmer's highly acclaimed BBC Radio 4 production, 'The Quarryman's Daughters' (2015), a role I repeated for its incarnation as an audio installation in The Weight of Data, an exhibition at Tate Britain.

  I tend to build excellent, solid relationships with artists and I have worked extensively with the film directors James Peaty at Superior Optical (Nobody Knows This is Nowhere, The Appraisal, Testimony, Maureen), Alex Antonio at Third Iris Films (No Second Date, Play Hard, Not a Moment More) and Frazer Ash at Blue Kitchen Films (Sempiternal, Spin Psycho, Through the Fields of Wheat).

  I am a charismatic actor and am well-versed in playing high status characters. I can inhabit commanding, authority figures but can also portray a very kind, gentle and compassionate presence. Great voice. Very, very expressive face. Patient and funny, I am a very versatile, hugely enthusiastic, hard-working professional.
