About me
Irish-British soprano Fiona Finsbury trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre arts and the Royal Northern College of Music.
Recent roles include Mother in Lambs at the Royal Opera House, Miranda in The Dancing Master at the Buxton International Festival, The Witch in Hansel and Gretel at Opera Holland Park and Nedda in the Young Artist production of Pagliacci at Iford.
Upcoming roles include Time in Ein Wintermärchen and Mavie in The 47th Saturday for Wexford Festival Opera, and Albina in La Donna Del Lago at the Buxton International Festival.
Prior to the first lockdown she was rehearsing the role of Euridice in the World Premiere of Orfeus at the Young Vic.
Fiona has a keen interest in contemporary opera; she created the role of Hanna in the world premiere of Adam Gorb's The Path To Heaven, and sang Sofia in the British premiere of The Orphans of Koombu at the Buxton Opera House. In 2022 she will be singing the soprano solo in the world premiere of Kate Whitely's Oratorio 'Our Future: In Your Hands'.
Other operatic roles performed include Mimì for Hampstead Garden Opera, Tosca and Musetta in Opera Undone at the Trafalgar Studios, and Gretel, Cendrillon, Métella, First Niece (at the RNCM).
Fiona is a Serena Fenwick Young Artist, a Leverhulme Arts Scholar, an Iford New Generation Artist and a member of the world's only improvising opera company, Impropera.
From removed Fiona was in the West End cast of The Phantom of the Opera, covering and playing Carlotta. She can be seen in the ITV series 'Victoria', playing the opera singer in the 2017 Christmas Day episode.
