    Additional Information

mention for James in Simon Stephens' "Christmas":

"James Groom’s interloper is fascinating. Billy Bob Thornton’s performance in the Fargo TV show comes to mind: grey, gaunt, intense. He’s alternately back-slappingly energetic and darkly mysterious . . .There is fantastic energy on display and in the small, intimate theatre at the White Bear, it sucks you in." James Macnamara - Exeunt

"I don't remember the last time I saw a performance as memorable as James Groom's starring, grinning, over - familiar, tongue rolling Charlie Anderson . . . He's so completely Psychotic, I was convinced for at least half an hour that we were going to find a body instead of an instrument in the case." Sarah Cox, StageReview

"affable but on a knife’s edge emotionally, he dominates the conversation from his introduction . . .you never really know where Charlie is going to go. James Groom plays this brilliantly, making superb use of his eyes to produce a truly psychotic stare that actually freaked me out whenever I looked at him. " Terry Eastham LondonTheatre.com

    About me

James Groom is a powerful performer who trained at the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. This year marks James' US TV Debut, in the hotly anticipated 'Outlander' for Sony/ Southbank Pictures. As well as a guest appearance in 'Law & Order UK', James has recently finished filming on three independent feature films: Marc Price's 'Magpie' (COLIN), 'The Way Of The Monkeys Claw' (lead) and war film 'The 95th' (co-lead). In addition James is the face of the new OXO family commercial and stars in the NFTS' startling film The Escapist' currently on the international festival circuit.

Not content with making his mark on the screen industry James has also worked extensively on stage including in Simon Stephens' 'Christmas' as the mercurial Mancunian Charlie Anderson, at the Old Vic Tunnels in 'Go To your God Like A Soldier', in 'Oranges On The Brain' at the Pegasus Theatre and in 'Blueprint' at the Bike Shed Theatre.

Born and raised in Essex, James initially discovered a love for acting at school and joined local Youth theatre company Theatretrain. During that time he performed at some of London's leading theatres including The Lyceum, The Palladium and Theatre Royal Drury Lane. James won a drama scholarship to the Kings School Ely, before reading American Studies, Art History and Film at Kent with a third year at the prestigious UCLA Film School. On graduation James embarked on a Masters degree at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama where he gained an MA in Acting for Screen.
