About me
I am originally from Birmingham, UK and have a degree in Drama and English from Hull University. I worked at B’ham Arts Lab, Birmingham Hippodrome, B’ham Rep and Midlands Arts Centre in various roles – stage manager, drama leader, Marketing Manager, before working as an actor and theatre director (Pattern 23 Theatre, various children’s theatre companies, Artistic Director, Theatre Station Blyth, Northumberland and then Associate Director, Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham). As a freelancer I produced and directed The Tribute to Dennis Potter at The Everyman, Cheltenham, before founding and establishing ArtReach (www.artreach.biz) as an international Creative Producer and Cultural Consultancy. I co-wrote Peace in Our Town with Barrie Keeffe as a commission from Cheltenham Literature Festival. I was also founding Artistic Director of Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead. Over twenty years ArtReach has emerged as a major force in UK arts festival delivery, developing the brands of Journeys Festival International and Night of Festivals/LIBERTY UK which are delivered annually in five cities in England. ArtReach has also been responsible for producing the world’s largest interactive video artwork, UnderScan by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, which it presented across the East Midlands of England and in Trafalgar Square, London. I have directed four collaborative artistic projects across Europe and recently created the LIBERTY project with 12 partners across 10 countries. I have written for theatre, both as a solo writer and collaborator, and have produced a body of short stories, This is Exhibit B, as the writer D.R. Hill. The collection was shortlisted for the Eyelands International Book Awards in 2019. I am currently Chair of ArtReach and of the charity Play to the Crowd, which encompasses Theatre Royal Winchester and Hat Fair, and was previously (2008-2015) Vice Chair of Leicester Theatre Trust (Curve Theatre). I live in Maidenhead, Berkshire.Acting experience:
Have just featured in a music video from Welshy - "All for You" see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn5R2rWHWHw In 2021 I have secured parts in several short films in order to keep working during lockdown. Also been featured in commercials (e.g. British Heart Foundation) and played Bob Irwin in "The Last Hours of Steve Irwin" as part of the Autopsy series, recently broadcast in the US. In 2020 I created a 30 minute pilot exploring the dangerous impact of Sir Oswald Mosley and the relevance of his life today. I continue to develop this piece with the aim to cretae a 1 1/2 hr stage show for removed . I play Mosley at different ages.
