About me
I love post production.I discovered broadcasting while I was at high school; a place called Youth Cable Television (YCTV) and there I learnt about all the various broadcasting disciplines. I started learning about cinematography and progressed to the point where I was producing and directing my own magazine style show, which was broadcasted on the community channel bi-weekly. I started to learn about editing, as I believed that the process was taking to long between wrapping the shoot and getting the final tape. So I started to learn linear editing on a tape-to-tape set up. I was good at it and progressed to non-linear editing using both Fast and Avid software. While at YCTV I edited numerous projects mainly short fiction and TV programmes.
I then studied broadcast post-production at Ravensbourne. Post studying at Ravensbourne I was a runner at Nats Post Production for a year and then tutored workshops on editing and the production process in the charity sector. After a few years working in the charity sector I wanted to update my knowledge and took courses in vfx (shake at that time) and final cut pro: I also taught myself Apple colour. I then freelanced as and editor and colourist. While freelancing I worked on many projects (majority low budget) ranging from music promos, corporate projects and feature films.
In 2008 I began studying for a Masters degree in film and television at the National Film and Television School my specialist field was digital post production (compositing and colour grading), with colour grading and online editing being my strongest disciplines.
Upon graduating my MA course I was employed by Digital Vision as a Quality Assurance Engineer and was with them for a year until I became a casualty of a merger and was made redundant. After being discarded by Digital Vision I began to freelance as a colourist, editor and videographer, which is my current status.
