About me
Gary Clayton grew up in the North West in Barrow-in-Furness Cumbria he started to make short films in Barrow 6th Form College, learning and teaching himself in new programmes and equipment to start his career in film making. He concentrated on short Art based films and Animations using briefs he had been given by course tutors from the schools, colleges and university he attended and also with friends, Being Dyslexic he felt that this was the best way for him to express himself.
He enjoyed the creative freedom moving image gave him and that he could bring in other types of media such as music.
Close friends produced there own music so they collaborated in making short experimental music videos and films, The area they lived in, the Lake District also heavily influenced the films he produced, they made this a prominent theme to some of his work.
From learning what he did in the North West he looked to further his career in film making and applied to the London Film Academy and was granted a scholarship placement there.
Through the one year diploma course Gary learnt all aspects of film making and successfully wrote a script that was produced and he directed a period film called 'Lauda Finem', but specialised in Camera Operating and Sound Mixing after Graduating from The London Film Academy.
From finishing the London Film Academy Gary concentrated on working in the film industry in the Camera Department, working freelance in and around London and his home town Barrow-in-Furness.
In 2009 Gary and two other team members joined together and formed the Fulham Four and produced a short animation called 'Mr Snowpenny' witch was selected and got them through to the final round of the Microsoft Imagine Cup Finals in Egypt once there they had to produce a short film within 36 hours, they successfully produced a short film called 'The Curse of the Mummy's Scroll' and won the short film first prize.
Gary now is concentrating on his own projects such as short animations called 'VAQUERO' and writing his own scripts such as 'CUBICAL' and 'LIFE AS AN APPLE' that he wants to produce in the future.
