About me
It is within the carnival of the film set that I thrive as a practitioner. My mind and body works at a heighten rate to ensure the swift and creatively considered task is completed. It is within my nature to use my initiative and be observational to contribute to the film set as a team member. Whilst retaining the professional conduct that is required of my role. The responsibilities of the Camera Operator are vast and challenging. My background in documentary cam-oping has developed my understanding of spontaneity: its advantages and disadvantages. The various lessons learnt from documentary were virtuously transmuted to fiction film operating; broadening my skills and awareness. Although they are different disciplines, having both experiences of camera operating has given me a wealth of ability. Having attended 'Camerimage' (the cinematography film festival) regularly, I have been able to gather great wisdom from the leading practitioners of this field. My experience in university has allowed me to explore a great range of cameras and formats from s16 to xdcam.
Script Continuity was a natural choice because of it's relationship with directing, camera and editing. These are private disciplines of my own that come from my ambition to be an auteur. Driven by this ambition I have conjured a strong awareness and skills that are very complimentary to that required of the script supervisor role. My most challenging experience was with the film 'The Last Hit' where there were various locations being cut with sets. An array of costume and make-up changes that had me communicating between departments. There were continuity-problematic visual effects: like car stunts on blue screens and double exposures etc. All of this within a non-linear storyline accumulated an in-depth learning experience.
