About me
I have been running the Green Screen TV Studio at a local University for the last six years. I am looking to further develop my skills and branch off in to the industry that was my original passion, namely the production of films.I have managed the University Green Screen TV studio since 2009, as well as the Sound Studio and introduced a second, ‘real’ studio in April 2014. When I first joined the University, none of these facilities existed and it has been my job to help start them up and bring them up to industry standard.
During my time at the University, I have gained many skills. Aside from running two TV studios and a sound studio, I am also the Client Liaison manager, liaising between the studios and external clients as well as internal clients. I am in charge of training students on all the TV Studio equipment. I take on all the health and safety requirements of the studios and it’s associated equipment, such as risk assessments and work place assessments. I have also completed courses on working at heights, manual handling, accident reporting, fire marshaling and I am also first aid at work with AED qualified, as well as being proficient in all associated paperwork, such as Inventories, location agreements and release forms for contributors. The studios and their associated paperwork mean that I am very busy which means that I have to be very organized. Also, the third year students produce a live TV show every week. Live TV is very stressful and I need to remain calm in the chaos so that the students remain focused and complete their tasks correctly.
Aside from this, I am also an Avid Certified Instructor and User for the 101 course up to version 8.4. I have edited many items for the University as well as some media being on the local news, and have trained many students to pass the user exam to help with their career paths. As well as offline editing, I have skills in camera, lighting and sound operation, which were all self taught to enable me to instruct the students in their operation for coursework and personal progression.
As the outside broadcast project manager, I am more than happy to get in and get my hands dirty, from laying cables in the rain to holding umbrellas over camera operators in the sun. Every job on a production is important to the final outcome from the smallest task to the biggest, and at some point, I have undertaken all of these, including the pre production paperwork and the post production editing, as well as the tea/coffee run. Again, like live TV, Live broadcasting can be very stressful, remaining calm when the pressure starts to mount is essential.
Additional information:
I also volunteer for a local amateur dramatics group, which has involved building sets and scenery, painting them and putting them together. I try to help out wherever I can which has led to a rather wide skill base, as I said before, a little about a lot.
I am able to effectively work as an individual and as part of a team, both in a leading capacity and following orders with no fuss. I am an efficient, motivated and sensible worker and would love to pursue my career with some guidance from your team
My hobbies include horse riding, running, swimming, dancing, reading and cycling.
