We find a bold, alternative and exciting take on Shakespeare and other classic texts through analysis and bare-bones rehearsal and experimentation. The result is fun and vivacious whilst being grounded in the original's language and intentions. Our mission is to take a 400 year old text, and turning it into intelligent, popular entertainment for today's tastes.

Our first two seasons of "Much Ado About Nothing" and "The Winter's Tale" at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre, and "The Taming Of The Shrew" and "Titus Andronicus" at the New Wimbledon Studio" received phenomenal critical acclaim: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from WHATSONSTAGE, GYLES BRANDRETH, THE NEW CURRENT & REMOTEGOAT; ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from EVERYTHING THEATRE, HAM & HIGH EXPRESS, LONDONTHEATRE1, PLAYS TO SEE, LDN CARD and THEATRE FULL STOP, and we're now building on our first successes with a series of productions that seek to raise new insights and questions into the some of greatest plays in history, lacing every single show with a satisfying, arresting spectacle.

We promote an open, responsive and energised process in rehearsal and production, using a spectrum of physical techniques, musical inclusions, dance and puppetry coupled with psychological study and detailed text work, developing an emotional, script-based short hand, inspired by the works of Peter Hall, Cicely Berry, Katie Mitchell and Rupert Goold.

Quite simply, Arrows & Traps strives to give you the best night out in live entertainment that you can get for under £15, using some of the greatest stories ever told, and telling them "in a way you've never seen before" (EVERYTHING THEATRE).
