Creaking Door Productions was born out of a desire to produce clearly told, exciting and stimulating stories for young people; whether they are 2500 year old classic fables, new writings or specially devised workshops for schools. Children and young people can be the fiercest critics, mercilessly fidgeting and muttering through shows that do not hold their attention; our goal is to remove the barriers set up by recent tradition and increase audience involvement. We start with a story then add the actors, after that the process is kept as simple as possible relying on the actors tools to bring the tale to life often with the aid of audience participation. We ask the audience to think, sometimes directly, about what they see, to actively use their imaginations and become as much a part of the story as those acting it out in front of, or indeed among them.
