Practical Productions is a London production house which produces a number of professional theatre productions each year.. We tend to have a mix of established plays and new writing, all performed by a professional cast of actors.

Our current success is the aviation comedy 'Club Class' which has now been touring for five years and played over 80 large scale regional theatres including 'The Lowery' in Manchester, 'Derby Playhouse' & 'Yvonne Arnauld' in Guildford. We have two casts, one playing the main theatres and one playing smaller arts centres and doing off off private corporate shows for flying clubs, festivals and comedy clubs etc. Previous 'Club Class' cast members have included Simon Turner (ex lead in London's Blood Brothers') Sara Pascoe (one of the stars of the Channel 4 hit comedy 'Free Agent') Harry Denford (headline Jongleurs and circuit comedian) and Adale Bottlang (BBC 'Rome').

Other recent works have included the 4* and 5* reviewed 'Joy Division', a play which has had two London runs and looks at the plight of Nazi sex workers. Other recent plays include, the life of Katherine Howard in 'A Rose without a Thorn' which we premiered at The Rose Theatre, Bankside, London and the musical 'The Legion' which toured UK theatres.

Our company also runs stand up comedy and playwriting courses, using industry professionals.

Our future productions include 'He's Behind You', 'Trekkies' and we are co producing the Sam Dowling play 'Chartist Rising' and have been invited back to 'The Rose' to produce some new plays to be performed at that amazing Thamside Central London theatre space.

We are not a Rep Company, and therefore we audition actors as and when we require them. We work closely with new playwrights and have a commitment to use some actors in each cast who haven’t been to drama school in the traditional sense, maybe attending part time courses etc. and giving them their first professional theatre break, alongside ‘Old theatre pros’. We work closely with 'The City Lit' and try and give some of their students there first professional break in some of our productions. We operate a fair audition process, with each actor invited to a timed meeting and given a few days to prepare and given a section of the script to work from.

Our Artistic policy is simple 'Give the audience what they want'! We produce plays which try to put bums on seats and so we operate from Pinter to Panto. If it sells and a theatre manager/booker wants it, we provide it!
